Have a question? We may just have the answer for you!
Is there any preparation required before my eyelash extension application?
- Please ensure there is no trace of mascara on your lashes.
- DO NOT use any oil-based make-up removers or creams on your eyes the day you are booked in for your Eyelash Extensions.
- DO NOT curl your lashes 72hrs prior to your appointment.
- DO NOT tint or perm your lashes prior to getting Eyelash Extensions
How long does it take?
Please allow up to 4 hours for Russian volume, depending on the fullness desired, or 2 hours for a full-set and 1-1.5 hours for refill appointments. These time frames are a guide of time frames only. I ask that you allow extra time, because perfection can NOT be rushed! The time duration also depends on how many (natural) eyelashes every individual client has. Most of my clients take a relaxing nap during the appointment.
How is it done?
Each individual extension is adhered to each one of your own natural lashes with professional only medical grade eyelash extension glue! This applies to Impact/Siberian/Silk/Synthetic extensions.
Russian volume is a intricate, specialised technique where multiple very fine and light extensions are applied to one natural eyelash resulting in a feather light extra full lash line.
What are eyelash extensions (made of)?
There are a few different types of eyelash extensions:
Synthetic eyelash extensions are made of acrylic to imitate mink fur. They come in a range of colours, thicknesses and lengths and are quite dramatic. These are the more affordable option in eyelash extensions.
Siberian mink eyelash extensions are very light and fine and only come in a range of lengths and look very natural. This trend all the way from HOLLYWOOD is loved and worn by celebrities like Beyonce, Heidi Klum, Jennifer Lopez, Madonna and Oprah Whinfrey! These are perfect for those with very fine and short lashes, which are usually not able to support having other kinds of eyelash extensions.
Please be aware that the fur is ethically harvested by brushing the Siberian mink’s fur from the coat. The fur is then hand selected for it’s imperfect beauty and sterilized for packaging.
Russian volume lashes are silk. These are even finer and lighter than Siberian mink which allows us to attach up to 6 extensions per natural lash and will only be equal to a synthetic lash (in weight).
How long do they last?
Your lashes grow in different cycles and that is why some will fall out sooner than others, to keep your eyelash extensions looking full and thick refills are recommended every 2 to 3 weeks, however they can stay on for up to 6 weeks. Russian volume lashes may last longer as there is more of them applied.
How do I look after them?
After care is very minimal and you can do all your everyday activities as usual AFTER the initial 24 hours after application. For the first 24 hours after your treatment, you can not let the eyelash extensions get wet/near moisture. Brushing is recommended regularly, after your shower, just to tidy them up a little when required. You will be provided with an aftercare sheet and eyelash brush after each appointment (included in cost).
Can I still wear mascara with my extensions?
Of Course! However, you can only wear a botanical and water based mascara that has been created for eyelash extensions. Other mascara’s contain oils that will dissolve the bonding agent of your extensions. I stock a specially formulated mascara that you will LOVE! It has a gentle formula is by far the best for even sensitive eyes! It can also be used on lashes without extensions.
What makeup remover can I use on my extensions?
We have a formulated makeup remover that is Oil-free and can be used on eyelash extensions. It is fabulous at removing all traces of mascara and all other makeup. It is free from Oil, alcohol and contains natural ingredients like soothing Aloe Vera. It is perfect for all skin types, even extremely sensitive, like my own!
What are eyelash extensions for?
Semi Permanent Eyelash Extensions are perfect for:
- Weddings (brides, brides maides, mothers of bride and groom)
- Formal Occasions (Formal/prom, Balls)
- Parties/Clubbing/Night Out/Birthday/Celebrational occasions
- General eyeryday wear (sport, swimming, work)
Can I have a reaction to Eyelash Extensions?
As with most things that are applied to the body there is always risk of allergy. The fact that the eyelash extensions are applied to the eyelashes not the skin makes reactions extremely rare. An allergic reaction would require removal of the extensions by Lashious. A reaction to eyelash extensions usually occurs within 48 hours of application. Symptoms include: redness of the eyes, continuous watering of the eyes, and sensitivity of the eyes. Usually by this stage you would know something isn’t right so make sure you let us know sooner rather than later. Symptoms will worsen the longer you leave it, IT WON’T JUST GO AWAY! If you continue to ignore these symptoms they will intensify and may even lead to swollen eyelids!
